About
Israel Natural Gas Lines Co. Ltd., a government owned company, was founded in 2003, to establish and operate a network of natural gas pipelines for transporting the compressed gas through a national network to all parts of Israel.
Recognizing the industrial and economic significance of using natural gas, as well as its contribution to preserving and improving environmental conditions, the State of Israel has prioritized and continues to promote the development of the national natural gas enterprise. This project is one of Israel’s largest and most important missions in the field of energy and infrastructure development.
According to Israel’s Natural Gas Sector Law (2002), and by the authority of the Ministry of National Infrastructures, in August of 2004, Israel Natural Gas Lines was granted the license to establish and operate a network of natural gas pipelines. The license is valid for a period of 30 years, subject to the dictates of the master plan for developing Israel’s natural gas sector, under the supervision of Israel’s Natural Gas Authority.
In merely a few years since receiving the license, Israel Natural Gas Lines constructed a 400 kilometer long network for natural gas transmission, which it also operates. The pipelines in the network deliver a yearly total of 4.8 billion cubic meters of gas, at a rate of approximately 13 million cubic meters per 24 hours.
The gas transmission process is currently active in four (the western, central, northern and southern) of the eight major trunklines planned.
The construction and maintenance of the pipeline network by Israel Natural Gas Lines has followed and continues to adhere to the highest --and some of the most rigorous-- international standards, requiring the implementation of complex logistics and advanced technologies. To this end, the company operates round-the-clock safety control rooms to monitor the entire natural gas installation centers and pipeline network, as well as 24 hour regional maintenance teams that are prepared to service and repair pipelines at a moment’s notice.
Company personnel includes skilled professionals, highly experienced in the field of infrastructures in general and on the subject of gas systems in particular. In addition, Israel Natural Gas Lines uses the services of external contractors and consultants, as needs dictate. A strong combination of abilities and means in the realms of planning, operations, management and supervision enables the company’s natural gas network to supply the needs of customersfrom both the service and the industrial sectors in Israel. These end users benefit from the transmission of this natural resource, which is founded on four critical principles: professionalism, reliability, safety and environmental commitment.
In addition to the company’s outstanding performance abilities, Israel Natural Gas Lines is financially solid, as demonstrated by its Standard & Poor’s AA rating. By December, 2009, the company had secured sufficient funding so to issue bonds in the sum of NIS 13 million, while demands for purchasing the bonds reached a total of NIS 1.2 billion. A year later, in December of 2010, another sum of NIS 300,000 was secured, bonds were issued, and again supply was surpassed by a demand for NIS 1.2 billion in bonds. Clearly, the funds raised indicate that the leading financial establishments in Israel recognize the importance of promoting the development of natural gas transmission and are highly confident in the company’s abilities to realize its goals.
Israel Natural Gas Lines, the leader in natural gas distribution in Israel, stands ready to face the challenges of tomorrow. We are committed to further develop this enterprise and thus strengthen the national economy and secure Israel’s place at the forefront of energy and infrastructure innovation.
